Learn about broadband internet
In all probability, you have already heard the term broadband or bredbaand. For many people who are not tech savvy, this word gets thrown around their faces and they just fein some understanding of the word. Perhaps you are looking to buy an internet package. Or perhaps you just wish to understand what the term really means. Whichever the case, you should read on.
Back then, internet connections could only be done via dial up connections. A dial up connection leaves a lot to be desired because of its slow speed. The fastest could probably go up to 55 kbit/s or so. That’s the reason why it isn’t preferred by those who want to watch videos or play music online. Downloading and uploading files of a sizable nature is an excruciating experience. You will have to wait for hours and hours. You also will get a headache once you realize that your upload or download hangs. But now, the invention of the broadband connection has changed everything. It is more than double the speed of dial up. This is why so many people have switched to broadband especially since the internet is now full of streaming videos and music downloads. Broadband speeds are about 730 kbit/s right now. Such fast connection makes it a big contender. It is only slightly lesser than the speeds of cable internet connections.
As what you would expect, broadband is more expensive than dial up. Dial up is now very cheap because not that many people are using it. In some countries, most dial up connections come in the form of internet prepaid cards that runs out after ten hours or twenty of online time. These prepaid internet cards are best for people who are not that internet savvy. Broadband connections are usually packaged for a year or two. You will have to pay for the service for twelve months or more. But if you plan on using the internet for a long time anyway then such a deal won’t present a problem at all.
Even though the cost of broadband is not as cheap as dial up connections your money will be well spent. Such amounts are as expected when considering the quality of the service. However, because of the growth of many internet providers, the price has gone down through the years. Because of this market competition, providers have affordable packages that will fit most budgets.
