(Internet ISP News) High-speed internet could help SMEs keep clients - survey - Business Report
Johannesburg - Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) could increase their efficiency and boost the chances of retaining clients if they use advanced high-speed internet technologies such as fixed-line service ADSL. A report by World Wide Worx in partnership with Standard Bank and Fujitsu Siemens shows that 55 percent of the 5 200 SMEs surveyed use ADSL; 11 percent use dial-up, a low-speed internet platform; 7 percent use ISDN; 3 percent use MyWireless; 3 percent use a leased line; and 2 percent use 3G as their primary means of internet connectivity. Goldstuck said that although the government’s assistance was slow, the 5 200 SMEs surveyed were satisfied with progress made by the Small Enterprise Development Agency, which provides non-financial support to small businesses. Despite all the efforts that multinationals are making to help SMEs with their technology problems, some small enterprises tend to be reluctant to make use of external assistance, mainly because of budget constraints. read more
